Credit Continuation for Medical Leave

More and more students are being forced to leave their school community for prolonged periods of time to care for their mental, physical or emotional well-being. Extended separations from campus are challenging for the student, the family, and the school. The process is disruptive and never easy. Partnering with Prestans minimizes this disruption for all parties involved. Prestans ensures that students are enrolled in a supportive and customized academic program that ensures they continue to learn while they are away from school.

Prestans Online Academy offers a robust, supportive, and customized academic experience for students who are separated from their school for an extended period of time. Depending on the length of the separation, students participating in this program either enroll in Prestans Online Academy classes that closely align with their current curriculum or receive customized academic support as they continue taking their current classes while off-campus.

Prestans works with the partner schools to review the proposed classes in order to ensure the students’ and the schools’ needs are being met. Upon successful completion of these courses, students will earn credit from either Prestans Online Academy, the partner school, or both institutions.

International School Partnerships

Prestans Online Academy actively partners with international schools to provide robust American pedagogy and teachers to partner schools around the world. We feature two primary ways of delivering our course content to our international school partners.

Option 1: After-School Online Synchronous Class

Prestans specializes in providing high-level synchronous class instruction via zoom. Students enrolled in this program will complete their normal school day and return home. At home, they will each log into their individual laptops and join an online synchronous group class session facilitated by a Prestans faculty member.

Option 2: In-School OMO Class

OMO stands for Online Merge Offline - it’s a system of delivering educational programming that combines virtual synchronous instruction with in-person learning. This method of online education delivery leverages instructor-student connection and maximizes student growth and learning. In the OMO program, a Prestans teacher in the United States will virtually join and lead a lesson in a physical classroom of our partner school. In this model, there is always a co-teacher present in the physical classroom who will partner with the Prestans teacher to optimize the student learning experience and ensure student attention, organization, and understanding.
