Summer Reading Course

The Summer Reading Course at Prestans is rooted in the contextual analysis, historical context, and an overall understanding of a student’s required summer text. This course is very specific to the summer reading expectations that will be expected of students in the fall at US/International Schools. The ideal student for this course is someone who wants to understand the expectations and culture of a US/International School English classroom. This course will prepare students to excel and achieve greater knowledge when they arrive in the US or an English speaking country. Lastly, this course will certainly put the students at an advantage in their new English classroom. Throughout the course students will practice: annotation, characterization, discussion, literary analysis, short question responses, developing their own essay topics, peer discussion techniques, journal writing, thematic analysis, personal reflection/narrative, rhetorical devices, and presentations.

Session length: 1, 1.5, or 2 hours
