Intro to U.S. History

This course is designed for students with basic English skills and little or no background in U.S. history. In addition to learning about the major events and historical figures that shaped American history, students will also become familiar with how the American government functions and the basics of U.S. geography. Intro to U.S. History begins with European colonization of the Americas, the Revolutionary War, and the formation of American government. It then moves through the Civil War, both World Wars, the Great Depression, the Cold War, and the American Civil Rights Movement.

This class covers the fundamentals of U.S. history and does not not focus on in-depth analyses of American history and society. This course allows international students to enter a high school U.S. history course with comparable understandings about the foundations of American society as their American peers.
