Advanced Topics in Statistics
Advanced Topics in Statistics Online High School Course
COURSE LENGTH:
Full Year (30 Sessions)
Course Overview
Advanced Topics in Statistics is a full year, advanced level course. The course moves at a consistent pace of roughly one chapter section per synchronous class. Students will be assigned asynchronous assignments prior to each class that will introduce the material so that synchronous sessions can focus on discussion and problem solving. Students will have 12 formative assessments with feedback for each textbook chapter and 3 larger summative assessments. Students are expected to complete all of the asynchronous work before each class session and make use of the reflections and post-session assignments.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Students will have the knowledge in how to collect data and interpret the results by means of estimating critical values, creating confidence intervals, and running significance tests. Students will also understand conditional probability, independence, and various random variables.
Students will be able to:
Evaluate survey collection methods
Design and experiment
Interpret regression results
Determine the probability of various outcomes of random variables
Create and run hypothesis tests unit t-tests, chi-square tests, and z-tests
Create confidence intervals around critical values
