Summer Course FAQs
Prestans’ summer courses are rigorous learning experiences, condensing a full-year curriculum into 7-8 weeks. Attendance at synchronous course sessions is required and essential, though we recognize that absences may occur. Students and families should strive to minimize conflicts, as missing even one class session can result in a significant amount of learning students will be responsible for.
| Sessions Attended | Attendance Percentage | Academic Reporting |
|---|---|---|
| 16-20 | 80-100% | Letter Grade and Credit Awarded* |
| 11-15 | <80% and >50% | Credit Awarded (Pass/Fail) |
| 10 | 50% | No Credit Awarded |
*The awarding of credit is contingent on the student being in good academic standing in the course.
We recommend that students utilize a laptop or desktop computer for synchronous class sessions. Tablets/ iPads also work, but require students to download the Canvas app, which is less user-friendly than Canvas on a web browser. Students can not attend class or complete assignments from their phone/ mobile device.
After the successful completion of the course, students and families receive a Prestans transcript indicating the final grade. Prestans also sends midterm reports, final reports (including teacher comments) and an official transcript to the student’s school. Each school determines whether to incorporate these reports into its own transcript or to keep the Prestans transcript as a separate record.
